Law firms gather for peer-led discussions on client demands - client demands discussions
Minerva’s Lunch & Learn series spans Cardiff, York, and Birmingham with private dining rooms at The Ivy Brasserie.

Minerva is extending its community-focused Lunch & Learn programme into autumn 2026, bringing legal professionals together across Cardiff, York and Birmingham, as well as the surrounding areas. Held at private dining rooms at The Ivy Brasserie and supported by trusted partners Elavon and Thirdfort, the new series will centre around The Client Expectation Challenge, a discussion exploring how law firms can balance increasing compliance requirements with the effortless, digital-first experiences clients increasingly expect. The format departs from conventional industry events by eliminating vendor pitches in favour of direct peer exchanges.

Past attendees, spanning firms across the UK, have repeatedly praised the sessions for their practical discussions and open sharing. This approach addresses a well-documented industry issue: many law firms operate in isolation despite facing parallel pressures around efficiency, transparency, and cybersecurity. Minerva, a client engagement platform under Law Firm Services, was created to bridge these gaps by transforming client interactions into growth opportunities. This autumn’s discussions will examine three primary areas: fulfilling client demands, managing regulatory requirements effectively, and improving onboarding and payment workflows.

Partners from Elavon and Thirdfort will provide insights on payments, identity verification, and trust-building; but the emphasis remains on human collaboration rather than technical solutions alone. The initiative seeks to enhance both client satisfaction and internal team efficiency while maintaining robust security and compliance. Participants value the sessions as a break from daily pressures, offering a chance to engage with peers who share the realities of contemporary legal practice. The Lunch & Learn concept was developed around this principle: creating informal settings for genuine collaboration.

Demand has risen steadily in 2026, with firms citing the benefit of candid conversations over structured presentations. Ben Mills, Chief Commercial Officer at Law Firm Services, believes creating space for these conversations has never been more important. Minerva, Law Firm Services’ client engagement platform, was designed to help firms turn every client interaction into growth. The discussions reveal a strong inclination toward knowledge-sharing and questioning conventional approaches, a dynamic that is uncommon but essential in the legal field.

While technology, particularly in secure payments and identity verification, plays a supporting role, the primary objective is to help firms align on client experience strategies. The events reflect a growing acknowledgment that compliance and user convenience are not opposing forces but interdependent challenges. Firms that treat them as separate risks overlook opportunities to optimize operations while raising service standards.
