The use of Inteligência Artificial (IA) in the legal profession can optimize daily tasks, from researching legal research to analyzing documents and contracts. However, its incorporation into professional routines requires not only understanding its benefits but also comprehending its limitations and using it in an ethical and responsible manner.
The OAB/SP has been working on different fronts to educate and inform professionals about the use of IA. They have installed software for legal research in 947 points of attendance in the state of São Paulo, including 257 sub-sections and 690 advocacy rooms in forums and courts.
Capacitation and Education
Among the initiatives are practical workshops in the interior and coastal regions of São Paulo, free online courses, and capacitation offered by the ESA – Escola Superior de Advocacia de São Paulo OAB/SP. These initiatives aim to capacitate professionals for the ethical and efficient use of IA.
A free online course, “Curso Introdutório Gratuito de IA Generativa Aplicada ao Direito”, has already impacted over 120,000 professionals in the legal field in three editions. The course content was revised and updated for 2026, focusing on recent tools and applications of IA in the market.

The course also addresses the verification of responses produced by IA tools, prevention of errors, and protection of sensitive data, highlighting the importance of responsible IA use.
Oficinas and ESA OAB/SP
The “IA: Prática para o Direito” workshops have been held in six cities, with over 1,000 participants. The next workshop is scheduled for October 20th in Marília. The ESA OAB/SP also offers extension courses and activities focused on reflecting on technological transformations in the legal field.
In 2026, the ESA OAB/SP made available 14 courses related to IA and correlated themes. The school’s scientific production also includes research on contemporary juridical issues, such as the effects of IA on the elaboration of processual pieces and the protection of fundamental rights.
The 2026 edition of the “Curso de IA Generativa Aplicada ao Direito” has open registrations, and the capacitation can be done free of charge until 16 de novembro. Additionally, the six editions of the “IA: Prática para o Direito” workshops held in Sorocaba, Santos, São José do Rio Preto, Ribeirão Preto, Presidente Prudente, and Ourinhos have demonstrated the effectiveness of these initiatives in promoting the practical application of IA in the legal field, with over 1,000 participants benefiting from these workshops.
